The Son of The Polish Power

Scott Bednarski is the son of legendary wrestler Ivan Putski. For decades Ivan Putski was A huge wrestling star all over Texas and for the WWF. Scott Bednarski followed in his father’s footsteps , after an outstanding freshman football season at TCU, where Bednarski was a star fullback. After being trained by his father, Joe Blanchard, Scott Casey and Tiger Conway Jr, Bednarski made his wrestling debut for Texas all-star wrestling in 1986 as Scott Putski. During his first year of wrestling,  Putski teamed with his father to beat Tanu and Tapu, Gary Young and The Angel and Gary Young and Bob Garcia, before returning to TCU for his sophomore season. The next summer Scott teamed with his dad in the ICW, where they beat The bandit and the Inferno and feuded with The Power Twins. In 1988 Scott Putski wrestled for Jim Crockett Promotions, beating David Isley on WTBS, with a top rope splash. After Putski’s Jr season in 1988, Putski left school to pursue a professional football career. While getting ready for the 1989 NFL draft, Putski  returned to ICW, and teamed with his dad to beat Tony Uylsis and The Lumberjack. He also beat future star Dan Evan’s with a sleeper hold. During this time Putski had Tony Atlas turn on him, in a match against the Power Twins. This was the first time Atlas ever wrestled as a bad guy. Putski lost a grudge match to Atlas in early 1989. 

Putski was a fullback for the Houston Oilers in the 1989 season. Following a career ending football injury, Putski returned to wrestling in 1991. In the renamed IWCCW ,Putski again teamed with his father and feuded with The Billion Dollar Babies, the masked Iraq’s, The Eliminators and The Georgia Gorillas. In June that year Putski had his first WWF tryout, when he beat The Brooklyn Brawler. Putski was not signed by The WWF. 

In late 1991 Putski returned home to Texas to wrestle for Dallas based Global wrestling. Putski entered Global with a huge television winning streak, beating Mike Stetson,Steve Dane, Sam Houston, Bill Joe Travis and twice beating Barry Horowitz, before his TV winning streak was broken by Eddie Gilbert. In March of 1992 Putski teamed with Terry to beat the California Connection for The Global North American tag team title, losing the Titles to The Goodfellows  that May.  Later that month Putski beat Johnny Mantel for the vacant North American heavyweight title, and held it until he was fired from the company that August.

In early 1993 Putski had another tryout for the WWF, beating Mike Williams and Dusty Wolfe, but again didn’t get hired.  Putski also teamed with The Italian Stallion to lose to Demolition on A UWS show in New York. In April of that month, Putski beat Rod Price by DQ, on a Kerry Von Erich benefit show promoted by Global wrestling . That July Putski returned to Global full time. Putski beat Vito Mussolini, Sweet Daddy Falcone and Tim Brooks on TV, before John Hawk ended his television win streak. Putski won a battle Royal to become the first  Global Texas champion in July of 1994, and held the title until the promotion closed, around October of that year. 

While wrestling his second stint with Global, Putski also beat Gregg Valentine by DQ, at John Arezzi’s Weekend Of Champions in New York, in October of 1993.  Diamond Dallas beat Putski on a Texas independent card in 1993 . In another  WWF tryout Putski beat Iron Mike Sharpe in 1994,again the WWF did not sign him. Scott Putski went to Mexico  to wrestle for CMLL in 1994, and received a huge push as Konnan 2000. As Konnan 2000 Putski wrestled Mil Mascaras, and teamed with El Sanquinario  and Emilio Charles Jr, to beat Hector Garza, Humberto Garza JR and Sergio Romero JR. Mexico was not the only country where Putski found success during 1994.  Putski also wrestled for War in Japan, where he teamed with Bob Backland, and the Warlord, to win the companies six man tag team titles.

After Global wrestling went out of business, Putski continued to wrestle in Texas for Jim Crockett’s relaunched NWA, and also in the CWA, where Putski beat Firebreaker Chip for the company’s heavyweight title.  in Paul Alperstein’s AWF, Putski was a huge star. In the short lived AWF, Putski beat Ronnie Vegas, teamed with Chris Adams to beat The Samoan Swat Team, and teamed with Charlie Norris and Billy Two Eagles, to beat The Texas Hangmen and the Super Destroyer, in a six man tag team match. After Global went out of business, Putski also returned to ICW, where he beat the metal Maniac, and teamed with his dad and Tony Atlas, to beat Gregg Valentine and The Border Patrol. 

After several tryouts, Putski was finally signed by the WWF in 1997. Putski entered the WWF earning television wins against Leif Cassidy, Steven Casey, Tony Williams, Nick Golden and Rod Bell.  On Monday night Raw Putski’s legendary father Ivan,  made his return to the WWF. The Putski’s beat Jerry Lawler and Brian Christopher, When Ivan pinned Lawler. In September of 1997 Scott Putski made his pay per view debut, losing to Brian Christopher by count out, at an In your house event.During the match Putski suffered a serious knee injury, that put him out of action for several months. The WWF released Putski when he was recovering from his knee injury. 

After being released by the WWF, Putski was signed by WCW in 1998. Putski  was used to put over the companies stars on TV. Despite being brought in to put  over WCW stars over, Putski had his chances to shine on WCW television, where he beat Riggs, Bobby Eaten, Bob Blaze, Ciclope, Rex King,Mean Mike, Julio Sanchez and Mike Nova. Putski also beat Barry Horowitz twice on WCW TV.  In 1999 Putski wrestled less and less for WCW, before being released that July.

After leaving WCW Putski teamed with Cedric Crain as The Cowboys from Hell. The Cowboys from Hell were huge stars in Texas independent wrestling, winning The PCW tag team titles in 2002, and the XCW tag team titles in 2005. After retiring from wrestling in 2006, Putski came out of retirement to win the NWA ALT title, in his home state of Texas in 2013. In 2014 Putski retired for good as the NWA Alt champion.

Scott Putski is amongst the 99 percent of wrestlers, who never reached the level of stardom, that his WWE hall of fame father reached.When compared to most professional wrestlers, Putski accomplished an awful lot. Putski was a football player who made it all the way to the NFL. Scott Putski won A match on WTBS while still playing college football , and was also a huge star for Global wrestling on ESPN, as well as in Mexico and Japan. Putski accomplished all of that, before receiving pushes from both the WWF and WCW, during the late 90’s Monday night wars.
