The Great Comeback: The Return of Joseph Everhart

Pro wrestling is unforgiving. Pro wrestling is unapologetic. The referee might be raising your hand and the kids in the audience cheer one minute, then a setback can take it all away in an instant.

The Great Knight Joseph Everhart has been wrestling professionally for six years. A student of Hangtyme’s 2-6 Wrestling Academy (Fayetteville, NC), Everhart has already faced circumstances of this nature. “I recently ruptured my left achilles in late February, 2023, which is considered a career ending/altering injury,” he explains. “The worst part about it was my mental state. I was devastated when the doctor told me.”

“There were some long and hard days through my recovery. I felt very lonely and frustrated beyond imagination. But I got help through counseling, my parents, and a few friends that stayed in touch with me.”

Through his hard work and perseverance, Joseph fought through the adversity. “When I was starting to walk again, I started to see light at the end of the tunnel. I set goals for myself, ‘This is part of the journey. All the pain and adversity. This is what makes the story even greater.’”

With this positive outlook, he is already achieving new goals. After recently winning the Next Level Pro Wrestling Social Media Champion he feels great and hopes to expand to new promotions and territories. When asked what his indie dream match would be, Joseph responds, “Drew Hood, only because we have a real life history and we were basically childhood friends. Lots of backstory there. I also want to say Jason Kincaid, because I’ve seen his work and I would learn so much from him. I love the technical aspect of wrestling and he’s one of the best I’ve seen.”

What does the future of The Great Knight look like? “I love to see larger than life characters in wrestling. I spent years trying to find the right look, especially for the entrance. It needs to look captivating and intimidating. Not cheap or thrown together. I still feel like it can look even better so I’m constantly finding ways to make it look better,” says Everhart. “I’ve grown up being a Christian and a follower of Jesus. I feel like part of me, my whole life, I’ve been a knight in shining armor for His Kingdom. Or that I try my best to because at the end of the day, I’m human. I’ll make mistakes and go through trials. But I try my best to represent the kingdom in any way possible.”
